Stop Smoking
Stopping Smoking
for the majority of smokers is straightforward because finding the cause
of their smoking habit is simple—the majority of us started, because our
friends smoked and usually this happened when we were teenagers often
when we were as young as 11 years of age. There is just one proviso when
it comes to giving up smoking and that is, that you
want to stop smoking now, not
for any particular reason, you just want to stop. For smokers who fall
into this category the Stop Smoking Course described below has been
developed which is shorter and simpler than the
curative method. For
smokers who have other issues associated with smoking the
curative method is
recommended. Choice of method is discussed at the initial consultation.
The Stop Smoking Course—“I want to become a non smoker”
First of all you need to book an appointment with me and this becomes
the day and time that you have decided to become a non-smoker.
Session 1—we start with a
detailed consultation about your smoking habits, after this I give you
an in depth, stop smoking, hypnosis session tailored to your needs. For
the majority of smokers this is all they need to quit smoking
permanently.
Anti Smoking Cassette Tape—this
is my recording to take home with you. This enables you to have a daily
relaxation session at home and at the same time the recording reinforces
your decision to become a non-smoker.
Aftercare—now you have
stopped smoking there are always temptations in the way, always those
who offer you a cigarette. What happens if you succumb to temptation? I
now offer additional sessions, should they be needed, included in the
fee for a period of 12 months.
Whilst the above course is suitable for the majority of smokers, there
are some exceptions, and the suitability of this method over the
curative method can
invariably be established over the telephone beforehand. If it is
unsuitable for you then don’t worry Curative Hypnotherapy can stop you smoking by
finding out what the underlying problem is that will cause you to keep
smoking.
Finding the cause behind why someone wants to keep smoking is highly
effective but it takes a little longer—around 6 to 8 sessions on
average. So it will cost more but the savings from stopping will easily
fund it. In fact if you smoke just 20 a day, in the first year it will
leave sufficient change to pay for a holiday abroad!
The Effects of Giving Up Smoking
Time after last cigarette:
• Within 20 minutes, blood pressure and pulse return to normal.
• Within 8 hours, circulation improves and oxygen levels in blood return
to normal.
• Within 24 hours, carbon monoxide is eliminated from the body.
• Within 48 hours, nicotine is no longer detectable in the body
• Within 3 to 9 months, breathing problems show improvement with lung
function increased by 5% to 10%.
• Within 5 years, risk of heart attack falls to about half that of a
smoker.
• Within 10 years, risk of lung cancer falls to half that of a smoker.
• Within 10 years, risk of heart attack similar to that of someone who
has never smoked.

Research on Stopping Smoking
Hypnotherapy can break the habit for you alone but current research has
shown that 2 key interventions increase success dramatically. The first
is advice on how to stop and the second is ongoing support (Annual
Report of the Director of Public Health 2001, Nottingham Health District).
The anti smoking course incorporates both of these interventions—the
consultation is extensive providing key advice on stopping permanently
and ongoing support is provided for a year in with the cost.
